Company Background
Universal Switching Corporation currently
employs a growing core staff. To augment our full time staff, we also
frequently use professional consultants and contract employees to assure
that quality is maintained and schedules are kept even during peak
periods. The employees are all highly skilled professionals that take pride in producing quality
products, and as such, enjoy very competitive compensation packages and benefits. To
directly support our clients, our
engineering sales representative
firms cover much of the United States, and many countries across the world market.
These offices provide local engineering, pricing and delivery support.
Products (Executive
Summary)
The products manufactured are employed for switching various types of
electrical signals from a number of sources to one or multiple destinations. This is
accomplished by means of remote computer control (software programmable) or intelligent
front panel controls, or a combination of both. Remote control panels are available for
larger group controlled installations. Software drivers are compatible
with most operating
systems to ease installation tasks. We also offer a complete GUI software
package as well.
Some
product
application examples:
- A communications facility has multiple antennas and need to route them
to a large number of radio operators. Each antenna connects to our unit which under
computer control from the operators routes the signal from any antenna to one or multiple
receivers (operators). Our unit provides the switching resources required between the
antennas and the radio receivers, and does so with minimal interference and without human
intervention errors. The switching serves the purpose of both interconnection and signal
distribution simultaneously. The same type scenario applies to Radar observation
facilities, except the type of signal routed differs in amplitude and frequency.
- For a flight simulator application, the user may want to merge and
switch various video images to the simulator. The switching is done using our product
under computer control by the user.
- An electronics manufacturer builds thousands of devices, all of which
must under go final testing before delivery to the customer. The most cost efficient way
to do this is to automate the testing so that all units are tested in the same way, and in
a timely manner. This requires the use of automated test equipment to provide stimulus
signals, acquire measurements, and analyze the results for pass/fail determination. The
key to this process is being able to connect the stimulus signals to various points on the
device under test, while also connecting the measuring equipment to the appropriate test
point on the device under test (DUT). Our product becomes the hub in such a system,
providing routing of both the stimuli and the output vectors.
The applications for our products are limitless. We foresee a
potentially vast market for switching systems in the rapidly expanding data communications
sector as well as in ATE, cellular telephony, video imaging and communications. All our
switching products are designed utilizing state-of-the-art CAD/CAM systems and software
development tools, as well as top-rated measurement equipment for R&D prototyping and
production test. The latest in component technology, automation and engineering approaches
are used throughout our designs. The majority of our PCB manufacturing is
automated with "pick-and-place" automated assembly techniques to speed
product through while at the same time increasing our build quality. Our systems are completely non-destructive, meaning that
in case of a malfunction, no damage can be caused to other equipment or to operating
personnel.
Facility
Universal Switching Corporation owns a modern two story
18,000 square
foot concrete and glass building built in 2006. The facility is located in
Burbank,
California, adjacent to the Burbank Airport (Bob Hope Airport). The facilities are separated into
manufacturing, engineering, R&D test lab, secure inventory area,
burn-in, shipping, conference,
engineering, employee lounge area, general offices and reception areas. The building has a 24-hour monitored security system
and recorded time-stamped video surveillance of all entrances and exits. All visitors must
sign in at the reception office and receive a visitor's pass prior to entering for
security and personnel control reasons.

The Burbank facility.
Capacity
The Company maintains a cost accounting and manufacturing
system (MAS200) which is networked using Windows XP Servers. The system includes Order
Entry, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Purchase Order Entry, Payroll, General
Ledger, Inventory Control, and Manufacturing and MRP. The company subscribes to instant
user support should assistance be required. Data integrity and uninterrupted operation
is assured by means of having all file servers with high speed RAID disk configurations
and backed up both within the facilities and remotely (off-site) using the latest in
cloud type services. Access
is granted to field sales personnel enabling them to have access to instant sales and
engineering data during customer support sessions.
Equipment
Universal Switching Corporation owns all equipment located in the
facility. The latest in test equipment, design and automation is utilized. All systems
undergo automated test sequences for consistent results and production monitoring.
The facilities are certified
ISO 9000:2008
with a major management commitment to the Company's QMS. Our manufacturing techniques provide for stringent and
monitored water cleaning of all PCB's to ensure consistent and effective cleaning meeting
both MIL standards and tough California environmental laws.
Quality
A
QMS program
has been implemented
and has been certified the new ISO 9000:2008 in August of 2009. The latest in anti-static
manufacturing and product handling equipment has been implemented throughout the
production facility. Both workstation and personnel ground monitoring equipment at each
workstation provides constant supervision of anti-static measures. All test equipment is
calibrated per a monitored calibration schedule traceable to the National Bureau of
Standards in Washington DC.
