(expandable to a full 1024x1024)
Singled-Ended

Download PDF file Specification Sheet (soon)

This single-ended field-proven product has what no other switching manufacture can deliver. It provides a solid-state high performance, high frequency configuration that is the most dense available. The S2562E is specifically designed for audio, instrumentation or other types of signals ranging from DC to 2MHz. The S2562E was specifically designed for the system test engineer demanding low distortion and precision DC gain or offset, high signal performance with small compact packaging, and exceptional affordability. Unlike the System S2560E, the S2562E has single-ended inputs and outputs, not balanced.

System Signal Path and Type Frequency Applications
S2560E Differential, analog and digital -422 DC-125MHz Low-level differential analog without adapters, high level analog with adapters, integrated digital 422 I/O optional
S2561E Singled-ended, analog (or digital TTL with adapter panels) DC-125MHz Low-level single-ended  analog without adapters, high level analog with adapters, optional TTL (>50Mbps) I/O with adapters
S2562E High performance single-ended analog DC-2MHz Low-level single-ended instrumentation analog

New features for the "E" version are:

  • Newly designed hot-swap high capacity power section
  • Dual AC input connectors
  • Enhanced system firmware features

The S2562E provides a host of features including a field expandable configuration from 32 inputs and 32 outputs, to a full 256 inputs and 256 outputs in a single chassis 5RU chassis (8.75" high). Inputs and outputs are independently expandable in increments of 32 channels by simply installing a module. The system recognizes the new module and responds accordingly. Using multiple units and the correct adapter panels to interconnect, the S2561E can be configured to a full 1024x1024 configuration in just a total of 80RU, or less than two full standard equipment racks.

The system can deliver the high density switching configuration due to the fact that all signal I/O is via high density 50 position D-Sub connectors with 16 channels per connector.  For some applications, the user can connect directly to these connectors. For most applications, a number of external connector adapter panel assemblies are available for the user to interface with. This includes BNC, RCA, SMA and others. This system also allows the system engineer to mix and match panel assemblies as applications change, plus it provides the ability to locate the system I/O (or a portion of it) either on the front of the equipment rack, the rear of the equipment rack, or located some distance from the actual switching unit.

The S2562E is available only in an analog format.  The system also provides full non-blocking and some signal fanout of signals allowing the user to route a given input signal to one, many, or up to 10 outputs without signal degradation, loss or input loading.

Optional Equipment

Optional "input" and "output" buffer/test units can be added to the S2562E unit which would provide a valuable performance and feature enhancement. These two individual 5RU test/buffer drawers are the same mainframe unit type (S2084D) but one would be populated with input modules, the other would be populated with output modules. Each input module would provide 16-channels, each with >200K ohm differential input impedance on SMB connectors. Each output module would provide 16-channels, each with <1 ohm single-ended output impedance on SMB connectors.

One additional feature of this optional equipment is that it can provide active non-intrusive signal path verification. Under user control, the user can quickly verify an given signal path, or all paths. An "out of band" internal test signal is momentarily introduced within the input modules and the output module will both detect and filter this signal providing valuable configuration verification.
