Typical Front Panel Controls

The standard set of front panel controls on the units are designed for ease of use and functionality. All mainframes have similar firmware providing menu driven set-up of control features, remote interfaces and front panel control parameters. The panel is easy to use for either left or right handed personnel.

Display Features

The display is a high-contrast long-life vacuum fluorescent display that provides excellent visibility in daylight or complete darkness and is readable from all viewing angles, unlike LCD displays. Most mainframes utilize a 4x20 sized display as shown above. It displays all activity either by remote or local control. It is protected from external elements by a tough non-glare finished poly-carb/urethane blue-green filter.

Keypad Features

A unique feature of all Universal Switching products with manual controls is the fact that every control key is illuminated by green LED's. It is considered "intelligent"  because only the available choices are illuminated on the keypad thereby providing for faster user control due to the obvious key choices. The keypad may be "locked" from inadvertent key selections or unauthorized users by a four digit security code. It may be locked or unlocked from the keypad or by the remote interface.

Other Features

Also included are black anodized equipment handles and LED status indicators. Front panels are painted with a high quality baked enamel finish (semi-gloss gray, other colors available) with the backside of the panel plated with a conductive finish for excellent equipment grounding. The sides of most units contain hardware built-in for the mounting of chassis slides (slides are optional). Cooling is from side to side with most units having forced air cooling built-in.
